Yerznkan’s Prelate’s Report on the Massacres (1915)

Our October newsletter is about the Armenian Genocide.

The Prelate of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Yerznka (presently Erzinjan, now in Turkey) has sent a long report to the Armenian Patriarchate in Istanbul, about the genocidal campaign of the Ottoman Government in the above mentioned region. The document is found in the ARF Balkan Central Committee folder and is dated May 12, 1915.

The Prelate reports about events in Yerznka, some of which had occurred in March 1915, before April 24. This means, once again, that the Ottoman authorities have started the genocidal campaign much before April 24, 1915.

In our archives, this document bears the call number 882-9. Most of the handwritten document has been typed on a later date.
